About

My first commercial photography gig was in high school when I got my first DSLR. Camera. I got lucky when I took a photography class at a local public park and the teacher taught us Ansel Adam’s Zone Method.

It turned out that I also had an eye for composition. Soon I was the school’s newspaper and yearbook photographer. I doubled down on my photographic equipment investment and bought an enlarger. Soon I was selling action photos to the athletes and their parents. Making prints in our bathroom.

Simultaneously, I was discovering the Eastern Sierra. One of my neighbor friend’s family loved fishing and would go to June Lake every summer. They were gracious enough to let me tag along. That started a decades-long love relationship with the Eastern Sierra. Today, I have a place in Mammoth that acts as my staging area for taking landscape images up and down the Sierra and Owens Valley.

I have been published in the Wall Street Journal and in Mammoth local magazines. I have won multiple juried competitions at various art shows. My work is displayed in the Mono Arts Counsel Gallery in Mammoth Lakes, CA.

My focus as a photographer is to bring people images of the place they love – the Eastern Sierra

Why do I do what I do? Our world is fast-paced, full of stress and tension. My job as a Director in the high-tech industry is full of short deadlines and tense challenges.

Nature is exactly the opposite, as it is calm and soothing. If you sit quietly in nature, that calm flows through you. It is the remedy for my stressful world. My photography is a way to bottle that calm and share it with my audience.

Metal wall prints are my medium of choice. By their nature, they are simple yet vibrant and impactful. They can be big and as vibrant as nature can be.

I will leave you with this quote:

“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

– Elliott Erwitt

Testimonials

Bob's, artwork makes you want to be there, when I sit and stare at the image in my office, I feel like I'm right there, I  feel the cool night breeze, the glow of lights, the sounds, and the smells. His art comes to life right before my eyes.

Not only are the photos fabulous, but the artist also designed my display and managed the installation. You can't do better than this!!
